  • How Are Long Distance Moves Priced?

The three main factors that determine the cost of your move are:

    • The weight of your shipment
    • The volume of your shipment (in cubic feet)
    • The distance you are moving

Additional factors that will effect the price of your move include:

    • Packing services you order from us.
    • So called "Accessorial Charges". These are things that keep the truck away from the door of your new or old home such as flights of stairs, elevators, narrow access lane, etc.
    • Your choice of additional insurance or valuation for the move.
    • Storage of your goods while you settle in your new home.

    Estimate Types

    Non-binding Estimate

    • This is the estimated total cost of the entire move, based upon the estimated weight of your shipment and the accessorial services requested.
    • A non-binding estimate is meant to give you a general idea of the cost of the move.  The non-binding estimate is not a guarantee that the actual charges will not be higher then the estimate.
    • Final charges are based upon the actual final weight of your shipment plus additional services rendered.
    • If additional items are added after the estimate is prepared, a revised estimate will be prepared on or before the arrival of our moving crew.
    • If the final cost exceeds the estimate, you will only be required to pay upt to 110% at the time of delivery and the remaining balance, if any will be due in full 30 days from the date of delivery.
    • Refunds and Mimimums
      • If your shipment's final weight is less then the estimated weight you will get a full refund of the difference (down to the minimum weight of 1,400 lbs.
      • A-Team Moving minimum charge is for 1,400 pounds.  Should your final shipment end up weighing less than 1,400 pounds, the difference will NOT be refunded and you will pay for 1,400 lb

    Binding Estimate

    • With a Binding Estimate you cannot be required to pay more than the estimate amount.
    • A Binding Estimate is based on your shipment's volume in cubic feet and/ or a detailed inventory list and includes a description of the services to be performed.
    • If the items found at your home on the day of the move do not exactly match the item list on the Binding Estimate, a revised estimate will be prepared for you to sign before the move begins.
    • All charges for a move done according to a Binding Estimate are due at the time of delivery, prior to unloading (as per A-Team Moving & Storage's published tariff).
    • If you request additional or accessorial services that were not listed on the estimate, A Team Moving & Storage may demand full payment for those added services at the time of delivery, prior to unloading.
      • Such services might include destination charges that often are not known at origin (such as Long Carry charges, Extra Stairs charges, etc.)
